It starts off with the basics: caregiver, nurse, protector.
As we grow, moms come to be all of that plus chauffer, proofreader, sports equipment manager, time administration expert, chief organization officer, negotiator, problem-solver, head cheerleader, photographer, teacher' assistant, defender.
Moms will endure cold and rain for hours if there's even the slightest occasion that their child will get put into the game. Even if their not put in, mom is there to assure them that they are awesome anyway. Moms will put aside their own plans to hear their child utter one uncomplicated line in the school play or play one squeaky note in the concert. Moms will drive and drive and drive to attend every event they can and make sure their children perceive their passions. Moms will pray and worry and reserve and listen and all the time seem to have more to give. Most importantly, moms will love endlessly.
As we grow into adults, mom's are confidants, therapists, and yes best friends.
What is my definition of mom? I think mom's are God's partners on earth to help kids reach their full potentials in this life.
But, my popular definition of mom is the one my daughter spoke a integrate of weeks ago. She said, "Mom, you're the best. You're all the time a step ahead of us. You know just what we want or need and you just take care of it."
For me, that about says it all.
Happy Mother's Day!
